Recently, Hyundai Motors launched the refreshed version of Elantra in India for the price tag of INR 12.99 Lac ex-showroom. The first generation Elantra was launched almost ten years back and at that time the car did not succeed in impressing the buyers because of the other best performing cars like Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Honda Accord etc. But, now once again learning from the mistakes, company has endeavored to bring its refreshed version in Indian car market with contemporary features to lure the buyers.

Engine and MileageThe new Elantra continues its existing engine configurations in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol engine continues the advanced 1.8 litre NU engine with four cylinders and 16 valves engine. It has displacement capacity of 1797cc and generates the power of 147.4 bhp at 6500 rpm and torque of 177.5 Nm at 4700 rpm. With an objective to improvise the fuel consumption company has integrated multi point fuel injection system in the petrol engine.

The diesel variant is energized with 1.6 litre engine with displacement capacity of 1582cc and integrates four cylinder sixteen valves. This engine churns the power of 126.2 bhp and torque of 4000 rpm followed by torque of 259.9 Nm and torque varying from 1900 rpm to 2750 rpm. Both the engines are mated with six speed automatic and manual gear box system.

Performance
With top speed of 195 kmph, the petrol version reaches the notch of 100 kmph from standstill in the span of 12 seconds. Whereas the diesel motors touches the mark from standstill to 100 kmph in span of 15 seconds followed by top notch of 190 kmph.

ExteriorsOn exterior front the new Elantra receives subtle changes and continues company’s Fluidic design philosophy. The front fascia receives new front bumper with minute changes followed by newly designed fog light consoles. The headlight clusters remains same, but now is offered with projector headlamps with LED lights to give an aggressive look to front portion.

An interesting feature of front fascia is that based Fluidic philosophy the new Elantra succeeds in grabbing the attention of commuters towards its aerodynamic design at first instance. The side profile of sedan receives newly developed ten spoke 16 inch alloy wheels, body colored exterior mirror caps with studded side turn indicators. On the rear portion it embellishes dual tone rear bumper followed black colored plastic cladding with chrome garnished exhaust pipe. The taillight cluster remains same. The tailgate however carries a new look which gives it a coupe shapes.

InteriorsInside the cabin new Elantra receives some eye catching changes in form of black garnished scheme. The cockpit styled interior receive various comfort features in form of cup holders, arm rest, high quality infotainment system with 4.3 inch screen. The arsenal of comfort features offered inside cabin include height adjustable driver seat, tilt telescopic power steering, folding key, multifunctional steering, day/night inside rear view mirror, Eco driving and manual transmission shift indicator, power windows, rear seat armrest with storage, electronic outside mirrors, automatic climate control, and many more.

Safety featuresThe safety features adorned in all new Elantra India vary according to the trim. The base trim sports dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, anti lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution and door sensors. It also adorns rear disc braking system, height adjustable seat belts. Ignition key reminder and rear defogger with timer. The mid trim is blessed with feature like electro chromic mirror for visual assistance during parking. The top end variant receives additional features like vehicle stability management, side and curtain airbags, speed sensing automatic door locks and electronic stability program.
